What is One Good Thing?
One Good Thing is the daily idea app for curious people. It gives you one good idea a day, drawn from 12 different fields, and helps you use the ones you keep. You read the idea in under two minutes, then carry it or let it go. Every thought you carry builds a room in your house of thought, and features like Ask, Prepare and the Margin put that collection to work.
Is One Good Thing just a thought of the day app?
No. The daily idea is where it starts. It isn’t meditation or a quote of the day, and there’s no feed or streak to keep up. Every idea you carry is saved, and the app keeps using them: Prepare draws on them before a meeting or a hard conversation, the Margin connects today’s idea to one you carried weeks ago, and your house of thought shows how widely you read.
What does "Carry" and "Let Go" mean?
After reading your daily idea, you choose one of two things. Carry it, and it is saved to your collection. Let it go, and it moves on. There is no wrong choice, and what you carry shapes the ideas you get next.
What is the Margin?
The Margin is a single written line that connects the idea you carried today to one you carried weeks or months ago. After you carry an idea, the app looks back through your collection for an earlier idea that genuinely relates to it, often from a completely different field, and writes one line in the margin between the two. If nothing honestly connects, it stays quiet. Your first few Margins are free.
What is the house of thought?
Your house of thought is a drawing of your range: one room for each of the 12 fields. Every field you carry from gets a room, drawn in ink with its window lit, and the thoughts you let go settle as soil under the ground line. It shows how widely your thinking travels, not how often you open the app, and it is never a score. You can replay how your house was built and share it.
What are Ask and Prepare?
Ask lets you go deeper with today’s idea: you type a question and get a thoughtful reply, tuned to how you tend to think. Prepare is for something you are about to walk into, like a meeting or a hard conversation: you describe it, and it answers using the ideas you have carried, quoting them by name. Prepare opens once you have carried three ideas. Free accounts get one question a day across both, and members get up to 10.
Is it really free?
Yes. The daily idea is free forever, and so is everything you carry: your whole collection, your house of thought, sharing and widgets. Free accounts also get one Ask a day and their first few Margins. Membership adds up to 10 Ask questions a day, every Margin, the full soil of what you let go and a written portrait of how you think, with monthly, yearly and lifetime plans. The annual plan starts with a 7-day free trial, and prices are always shown in the App Store before you pay.
Is my data private?
Yes. There are no public profiles and no ads, and no one can see what you carried or let go. What you ask and what you keep stays yours, and we never sell it.
